Smoked Sausage and Potato Skillet — Recipe


  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper (any colour will do), sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)


  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the smoked sausage rounds to the skillet and cook until browned on both sides. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the diced potatoes and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they start to brown.
  4. Add the chopped onion, sliced bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  5. Return the smoked sausage to the skillet with the vegetables.
  6. Sprinkle paprika, dried thyme, salt, and pepper over the sausage and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
  7. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the potatoes are cooked through and tender.
  8. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley (optional) and serve hot.

This smoked sausage and potato skillet is a satisfying and comforting meal on its own, but you can also serve it with a side salad or some crusty bread. Enjoy!
